6. Your content & ownership
You own your content. Lesson plans, worksheets, assessment notes, and other content you create or generate through TeacherAI remain yours. We do not claim ownership of any content you generate.
By using TeacherAI, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your content for any other purpose, including advertising, model training, or sale to third parties.
AI-generated content (lesson plans, worksheets, comments) is produced using the Anthropic Claude API. You are responsible for reviewing and editing all AI-generated content before using it professionally. See Section 7.
7. AI-generated content
โ ๏ธ
Professional judgment required. AI-generated content is a starting point, not a finished product. Always review lesson plans, worksheets, report card comments, and rubrics before using them with students or submitting them professionally.
TeacherAI uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate educational content. While we prompt the model to align content with the Ontario curriculum, we cannot guarantee:
- Perfect curriculum alignment for every generated lesson
- Accuracy of all factual content in reading resources
- Appropriateness of every generated comment for every student's situation
- Compliance with your specific school board's report card requirements
You are responsible for the professional quality of all content shared with students, parents, and administrators. TeacherAI is a time-saving tool, not a replacement for your professional expertise and judgment.
Report card comments generated by TeacherAI are suggestions based on assessment data you have entered. They are drafted in your voice and require your review and approval before submission in PowerSchool or any other system.
8. Student data responsibilities
As the teacher using TeacherAI, you are the data custodian for any student information you enter. By entering student data, you represent that:
- You have the authority to enter this information as part of your professional role
- You will limit student data to what is reasonably necessary (first name, grade, brief accommodation notes)
- You will not enter full IEP documents, psychological reports, or other sensitive records
- You will comply with your board's policies regarding student data in third-party tools
- You will remove student data from TeacherAI at the end of the school year or upon request
TeacherAI stores all student data in Canada and applies technical safeguards (encryption, Row Level Security, authentication). However, we are not responsible for your compliance with board-level policies โ that remains your professional responsibility.
9. Availability & changes
TeacherAI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted service availability
- That the service will be error-free
- That AI-generated content will meet your specific needs
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible. TeacherAI is under active development, and features may evolve regularly based on teacher feedback.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TeacherAI and its operators shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service
- Loss of data, professional reputation, or employment arising from use of AI-generated content
- Any decisions made based on AI-generated lesson plans, assessments, or report card comments
- Service interruptions, data loss, or security incidents beyond our reasonable control
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $0 during any free-access period).
Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data and associated student data within 30 days.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly the acceptable use provisions in Section 5. We will provide notice where reasonably possible.
Upon termination, your access to the service ends immediately. Provisions of these terms that should reasonably survive termination (including ownership, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of TeacherAI shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
